Brookline Teacher Fired for Allegedly Cursing at Students

Students staged a protest Tuesday demanding school officials reinstate Larry Chen.

A Brookline teacher teacher was recently fired for allegedly swearing in front of students.

The decision has upset scores of students at the Driscoll Middle School who started a petition to reinstate social studies teacher Larry Chen. On Tuesday, students even walked out of class and marched around the school with shirts and signs supporting Chen.

Chen’s firing came after he allegedly said “BS.” Students said they were not offended.

“These words, as well as many far worse, have been exposed to us through our required school reading,” the petition reads. “We think (Chen’s firing is) ‘BS.’”
