Brookline Town Clerk: 'She Won By 3 Votes'
This afternoon after the Town Clerk's office had a chance to review the votes. Julie Schreiner-Oldham still edged out Paul Harris for SC.

BROOKLINE - As the representatives from various groups rooting for candidates noticed last night as they jotted down the election results to compare them with other precincts ahead of the official tally, the School Committee race for the third seat was a close one. By 10 p.m. it looked like Julie Schreiner-Oldham had just barely edged out her opponent Paul Harris by a single vote. (Scroll to the bottom of the story for the Town Clerk's "official tally")
This afternoon after the Town Clerk's office had a chance to review the votes he confirmed what the Schreiner-Oldham camp were hoping.
"She won by three," he told Patch. "We had a couple hand counts and a couple provisional ballots that weren't in the tapes so that's what made the difference," he said, adding that there were about six provisional ballots that his team had to check, four of which they were able to include in the vote.

Schreiner-Oldham won 3,047 votes, while Paul Harris came in just behind with 3,044 votes, according to the official tally.
It's still not a huge margin and if anyone cares to contest the results, they have nine more days to do so, according to law. In order to challenge the vote town wide, they'd have to go to each of the precincts and secure signatures and return those within nine days (10 days of the election).
