Brookline Village Power Outage Strikes Hundreds On Steamy Afternoon
Nearly 500 Brookline residents were without power during parts of Friday.

BROOKLINE, MA — Nearly 500 Brookline residents were without power amid the intense heat and humidity Friday afternoon.
Brookline Town Administrator Mel Kleckner said at about 3 p.m. that Eversource was still working to restore electricity to about 100 residents in Brookline Village.
The outage occurred at about 12:30 p.m. with about 470 residents affected. Eversource said that number was down to about 100 by around 2:15.

The anticipated time for full restoration was 5 p.m.
"We have been in contact with Eversource since the outages were first reported and they understand the need to act quickly given today's extremely hot temperatures," Kleckner said. "We are hoping that electricity will soon be restored to the remaining residents without power."
