Brookline Restaurant And Wine Store Closed Temporarily After Fire

BROOKLINE, MA — A restaurant and wine store will be temporarily shut down in the aftermath of a fire that took place inside the building where both businesses are located.

Vinodivino at 1669 Beacon St. announced its temporary closure on Wednesday. According to its management, a fire at the nearby Painted Burro Bar caused damages to the property that will need to be fixed before the store can reopen.

“We’re relieved to share that no one was hurt. However, the damage to the building was significant, and the building is currently without power,” the company said in a statement. “As a result, our Brookline location will be closed for the time being while repairs are made.”

The business added that it does not currently have a definitive timeline for when the store will be able to reopen.

The business launched in 2004 when founder Raphael Keller-Go opened the first of what is now six locations in Newton. Throughout the past 22 years, Vinodivino has expanded to Needham, Marion, Boston, and Brookline. The Brookline spot opened its doors in 2010. Manika Khanna, Michael Mendes, and David Ucci took over the company after Keller-Go's death in 2023. Its newest location in Boston’s Kenmore Square is also what is in closest proximity to the Brookline store. In addition to numerous types of wine, Vinodivino also offers beers, ciders, spirits, and non-alcoholic options.

Burro Bar announced soon after that it will also be closed for an undisclosed period of time due to the fire damages.

"Due to the damage, we will be closed for the foreseeable future. While this is a setback, it is not the end. We are already looking ahead and can’t wait to re-open bigger and better than before," Painted Burro leadership said in a statement. "Thank you to our amazing community for your support over the years, it truly means everything to us. "

The restaurant also expressed gratitude to the Brookline Fire Department for their efforts in extinguishing the blaze and ensuring no one was injured.
