Passion, politics, and pulse-pounding rhythm collide! Martín Palmeri’s “Misatango” electrifies the Latin Mass with fiery Argentinian “new tango,” blending chorus, bandoneón, and strings in a bold, emotional ride that has energized audiences on several continents. By embedding tango’s harmonic language, rhythms, and melodic designs in the orchestra, Palmeri frees the chorus to simply “sing the Mass”, plunging the audience into a world of uplifting emotions, passion, and syncopation.
Opening the concert is Lamentations of the Prophet Jeremiah by Alberto Ginastera, an intense work written in exile in 1946. Setting Latin texts from the Book of Lamentations and with dissonant harmonies, jagged rhythms, and stark contrasts, Ginasteri’s music expresses profound sorrow and spiritual desolation.
Adding to the verve of the Latin American program are scintillating dance performances by Boston-based tangueros, curated by bandoneonist Alex Roitman and accompanied by a tango instrumental ensemble. The proliferation of AI therapists adds another layer of complexity. While providing accessible, low-cost support, experts warn of a fake intimacy that can lead to unhealthy results. The tradition continues! The Coolidge Corner Arts Festival returns for a 46th&nbsp;year with more artists! Each spring, the Coolidge Corner Arts Festival draws artists, craftspeople and artisans from around the Northeast. This one-day celebration takes place in the heart of Brookline’s Coolidge Corner and features 95+ juried exhibitors of 2D and 3D art, printmaking, photography, ceramics, glass, jewelry, leather, paper, wood and mixed media.
The 46th Coolidge Corner Arts Festival will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 11am-6pm, rain or shine, along Babcock Street and the adjoining parking lot, between Harvard St and John St. In addition to 95+ arts and crafts booths, guests will be able to enjoy a live DJ, food trucks, a beer and wine garden, and patio dining.
