About Blue Kangaroo Playgroup
Blue Kangaroo is a playgroup for children ages six months through three. Children, accompanied by a parent or a caregiver, discover, socialize, and grow through free play, arts and crafts, singing, story time, and group snack.
Blue Kangaroo is open weekdays from nine until noon in the morning from September through May. Children and their caregivers are free to come and go as they please. Activities, arts and crafts, books, and toys rotate frequently, and weeks sometimes focus on themes (like space, the sea, or dinosaurs). A typical day at Blue Kangaroo looks like this:
9-10:10: Free play & arts and crafts
10:10-10:40: Circle time
10:40-11:00: Snack time
11:00-12:00: Outdoor time (weather permitting), free play, or structured activities (such as parachutes, story time, puppet shows)
There are also field trips and holiday celebrations. And as the year progresses, we hope to invite members of the local community—musicians, puppeteers, storytellers—to join us for circle time or for our late-morning activity.
