Farmer's Market at the Centre Street West Parking Returns Next Month
Here's a good sign that it's almost summer.

The Farmer’s Market will reopen their summer hours from on Thursdays June 13 until October 31.
Economic Development Director Kara Brewton told the Board of Selectmen that the summer Farmer’s Market will be earlier than normal this year.
“It’s going to be one week earlier than usual because the Fourth of July falls on a Thursday,” Brewton said. “The agreement will be pretty much the same as last year.”

Selectmen Nancy Daly said that she was looking forward to the return of the Market. “I have heard people say that ours is the most successful in the state.” Brewton told the Selectmen that the Health Department researched farmer’s markets in the state and found that Brookline’s is one of the few non-profit markets in the commonwealth.
“We have people of lower income coming from other communities to shop here in Brookline because it offers more variety and is cheaper than other farmer’s markets,” Brewton said. “It is amazing what (Market Manager) Arlene Flowers has been able to accomplish all by herself.”

Chairwoman Nancy Dewitt, who was reelected chair on Tuesday, said, “It’s really a wonderful place to get fresh fruits and vegetables, also meat and fish locally.”
The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to approve and execute the agreement with Arlene Flowers for the 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. operations at the Centre Street West Parking lot.
