Farmland as Gallery Space

Allandale Farm turns over land to 16 sculpture artists for "Agriculture Encounters," which opened today.

Brookline's Allandale Farm has invited 16 artists to create sculptures to adorn the farm's trees, paths, ponds and buildings for a self-guided exhibit it's calling "Agriculture Encounters."

Organizers call the show, which opened yesterday and runs through Oct. 21, a "meditation on farming, land, nature, time, the implications of modern civilization and its sprawl, urban community dynamics, as well as the vast possibilities and sensibilities of the contemporary arts."
