FBI Seeks Tips About ‘Serial Bank Robber’

The Violent Crimes Task Force inside the Federal Bureau of Investigation is looking for assistance in identifying a person it calls “a serial bank robber” who has allegedly been involved in a string of incidents in the metro Boston area during the last eight weeks.

According to a press statement, the alleged bank robber is described as a black or Hispanic man, in his mid-30s to early-40s, about 5-feet, 11-inches tall, with a medium build.

“During the robberies, he has worn a dark jacket, dark pants, both black gloves and white gloves, a scarf or ski mask covering his face, and a knit hat,” according to investigators. “He also has, what appear to be, skin tags or moles underneath his eyes.”

According to investigators, the alleged bank robber enters the bank, displays what appears to be a black handgun, verbally threatens bank tellers, and demands money. In two of the cases, the robber fled the banks in stolen vehicles that were later recovered, according to the FBI.

He is considered “armed and dangerous,” according to investigators.

The robberies began on Dec. 12, 2013, at the Century Bank on Western Avenue in Allston. The Santander location in Brookline, on Harvard Street, was hit on Jan. 3. The Santander location on Birmingham Parkway in Brighton was robbed on Jan. 7, and the TD Bank on Franklin Street in Braintree was hit a few weeks later, on Jan. 28.

The FBI has provided these screenshots from video surveillance from the banks in order to assist in apprehending the individual.

Rewards of $10,000 from the FBI and $2,000 for the Massachusetts Bankers Association for information leading to the arrest and charge of the alleged bank robber are available to anyone with information regarding the incidents.
