Fugitive Who Led Brookline Police on Scooter Chase Caught

The following is an excerpt from the Brookline police log. An arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.

Brookline police on Sunday arrested a fugitive who they said led them on a scooter chase through town.

Leandro Pena, 26, of Boston was riding in a pack of about 40 bicyclists and four others riding scooters when an officer said he saw them riding recklessly and committing numerous traffic violations on Harvard Street.

The officer tried to pull the group to the side of the road but they took off. The officer caught up to Pena, who ditched his scooter and hopped over a chain link fence near ScrubaDub. He didn’t get much farther, as police caught up to him and placed him under arrest.
