Hamilton Cast Member To Speak In Brookline, Sold Out in 24 Hrs

Here's what happened after the Teen Center announced Brookline High School Alum and Hamilton cast member was coming to speak.

BROOKLINE, MA — Not even a decade after he graduated from Brookline High School, Nik Walker joined the long list of BHS grads to make it big.
Walker, class of 2006, is a cast member in the Broadway smash Hamilton not even a decade after he graduated.
Walker is back in town Monday to shares stories and insights about life in the arts as a Hamilton cast member and co-creator of Company One's ARTiculation, and playwright and answer any Brookline burning questions. But within a day of the announcement that he was coming to speak, tickets were sold out.
“The response was so overwhelming from the community that we basically sold out all the tickets within 24 hours,” said George Zahka the assistant director of programming of the Brookline Teen Center where the event was supposed to take place.

Rather than call it a day at the 300 or so tickets, the teen center and the high school’s Friends of the Performing Arts worked to secure a new venue that could seat about 1,000. Walker will now be speaking in the auditorium of his alma mater.
Brookline Teen Center staff member Duran Goldman went to school with Walker and asked him if he might be interested in coming by to talk about his career with folks at the Teen Center and the idea rolled from there.
“Our music guy here started talking with Nik and we brought in the performing arts department [at the High School] because we thought it would be fun to have those kids involved,” said Zahka.
