CHESTNUT HILL, MA — Next spring Chilacates, the popular taqueria with two locations in JP, including one on Centre Street where it is common to see lines out the door, will open next spring in Chestnut Hill.
Boston magazine dubbed it the “Best Mexican Restaurant” in 2017, and the spot is known for traditional tacos, tortas and enchiladas cos with handmade corn tortillas, Tortas, and Enchiladas and its horchata.
It will be opening in a spot wedged between Legit Activewear and Polkadog Bakery in Chestnut Hill's The Street on Route 9.

Socrates Abreu and Kaurys Ramierez opened the first Chilacates in 2015 near the brewery in JP. Abreu draws on recipes from his sister-in-law and business partner Ramirez, and emphasizes sunny décor to reflect the company motto, “We just want you to be happy” with vibrant wallpaper and colorful prints of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, according to a Street press release.
“I'm excited to bring Chilacates from my street to your Street, desde mi calle a tu calle. We are going to bring authentic flavors to Chestnut Hill," said Abreu in a statement.
