The Bay State was ranked No. 8 on WalletHub's "Best and Worst States to Have a Baby" survey.

Massachusetts is one of the best places in the country to have a baby, according to a new report.

The personal finance service WalletHub ranked all 50 states in its Best and Worst States to Have a Baby survey. The Bay State came in at No. 8. Vermont was No. 1.

Massachusetts earned a high ranking due to its availability of pediatric services and low infant death rate, among other factors. WalletHub also based its rankings on factors like midwives and OB-GYNs per capita and parental leave policies.
