New Irish Pub Opens in Former Corrib Location

Last week it was reported Grainne O'Malley's Tavern would replace the popular Brookline hotspot, which closed in March.

BROOKLINE, MA - Grainne O'Malley's Tavern has opened a week after it was reported the bar would take over the site vacated by Corrib Pub.

The popular Brookline watering hole closed in March, amid protests from loyal customers. But according to documents filed with the Brookline Board of Selectmen's office, another Irish pub was set to move in to the space.

That bar, Grainne O'Malley's, has opened up sooner than anticipated, Boston Restaurant Talk reported.

According to the website the pub has been serving customers for more than a week. It continues Corrib Pub's tradition of offering standard Irish bar fare, but may make the transition to a gastropub in the future.

Corrib, which opened its Brookline location in the 1980s, will continue to operate its branches in West Roxbury and Brighton.
