Steel & Rye Owner To Open Restaurant Soon In Coolidge Corner
Prairie Fire will specialize in not just pizza, but other wood fired foods, says the owner who also owns Steel & Rye in Milton.
BROOKLINE, MA — Prairie Fire restaurant and bar will open in the space formerly occupied by Lineage by the end of the summer, says owner Dan Kerrigan who also also owns Steel & Rye in Milton.
"I'm most excited about the potential to create something of great value to the community. When lineage closed, it left a hole," said the Brookline resident.

The menu at the sister restaurant will be similar to Steel & Rye, focusing on hand made pasta, salads and vegetables and pizza at the Milton restaurant.
The Coolidge Corner restaurant will specialize in wood-fired fare. And while pizza might be what comes first to mind when you think of "wood fired" it won't be the only item on the menu, Kerrigan stressed noting that there seem to be a number of other pizza restaurants popping up the area. (Think; Oath Pizza, Otto's and Upper Crust).

"It's a full service restaurant," Kerrigan said. "We have the best ingredients handled with the most simplicity. We want people to read the menu and think wow, there's some great every day dining, but high quality."
As part of the renovations in the space crews took down a wall and expanded the bar dining space. There will be two bar tending stations and two chefs working behind the bar. There are about a dozen beer taps on the wall behind the bar and a sliding door above the wood fired oven.
The restaurant is going through inspections and the plan is to open in the next three weeks, said Kerrigan.
"I'm trying to stay away from pinning down an exact date. We just want to open when we're ready," he told Patch. On Aug. 8, he told the Board of Selectmen that he hoped to be open by Labor Day.
