Newbury College to Host Auction to Raise Money for Scholarship Program

Bid on a Bright Future Auction is the largest fundraiser for the College.

Newbury College will be hosting its 6th annual “Bid on a Bright Future” Scholarship Auction on April 23, 2014 to raise much-needed scholarship dollars for its students.

The “Bid on a Bright Future” Scholarship Auction is the largest fundraiser for the College, and was able to raise more than $375,000 in 2013.  The College hopes to set the bar even higher this year to help meet the growing financial needs of Newbury’s students.  This is essential, as more than 82% of Newbury students require need-based aid, while 52% are Pell-eligible (coming from families in the lowest quartile of income), and 64% are first-generation college-goers, determined to change their economic future.  Newbury is committed to making college a reality for these students, and raising money through the College’s Annual Fund and the annual Scholarship Auction is how this is achieved.

This year’s event will feature a silent auction, where attendees will sample some delicious appetizers made by Newbury’s culinary students.  From there, guests will head into the tent in the courtyard of the Newbury campus to prepare for the live auction.  Here guests will bid on extraordinary trips and excursions around the globe, tickets to wonderful sporting events, superb dining with guest chefs, and a “mystery” envelope.  Dinner and an open bar will close out the evening.

"This year’s Auction is truly a night that you won't want to miss,” says Catie Fauvelle, Newbury’s Director of Special Events and Alumni Relations.  “With the opportunity to bid on trips to places like Paris, Vail and Punta Mita, friends of Newbury will be able to experience an amazing trip while helping our students complete their academic journey.  The night itself will be simply fabulous - exceptional food, fine drinks and great company.  It's going to be wonderful."
