Newly Renovated Brookline Hills Station Now Open

BROOKLINE, MA — The Green Line’s Brookline Hills Station has officially reopened to the public after being closed for nine months, according to the MBTA.

The station, which was closed in April 2021 to accommodate Brookline High School’s Expansion Project, has been improved and made completely accessible. Completed work includes raided platforms for accessible boarding, accessible pedestrian track crossings and access pathways, new canopies, seating, lighting, and wayfinding, and a pickup and drop-off location for The RIDE.

“Transit-oriented development projects such as these create a sense of collaboration and camaraderie with local communities,” said MBTA General Manager Steve Poftak in a statement. “We thank our partners at the Town of Brookline for collaborating with us on this work. The improvements made at Brookline Hills Station create a safer and more accessible journey that riders can depend on.”

Funded by the Town of Brookline, the work at Brookline Hills Station was done in conjunction with the construction of the new high school campus building that will span over the Green Line D Branch. While Brookline Hills Station is open and providing accessible service as of last weekend, adjacent site work and building finishes will continue to progress for the remainder of the project.
