Sanchez Claims Victory in 15th Suffolk District
Incumbent take 86 percent of the vote in Brookline's Precinct 5.

Rep. Jeffrey Sanchez has claimed victory in the 15th Suffolk District Democratic Primary, which includes a single Brookline precinct.
"I'm going to work hard and continue to work hard for everybody," Sanchez said as he stood on a chair in front of an enthusiastic crowd of about three dozen supporters at Mission Hill's Penguin Pizza.
Sanchez's campaign told supporters that the incumbent had received 1,185 votes, compared to 725 for challenger Jeffrey Herman.

According to unofficial results from the Town Clerk's Office, Sanchez received 257 votes in Precinct 5, the only Brookline precinct including in the 15th Suffolk District, compared to 42 for Herman.
As of 10 p.m., Herman's campaign had not contacted Sanchez to concede.

The Republican Party has not fielded a candiate for 15th Suffolk District, so tonight's nomination clears the way for Sanchez's return to Beacon Hill after the general election in November.
