“Brookline brings together a terrific population of food lovers, neighbors, enthusiasts and visitors, and we hope to offer something to appeal to them all,” said Mason. “We’re focused on telling the story of cheese in a way that brings the community together in a bigger way.”

In addition to local, domestic and imported cheese, the store showcases a range of cheese pairings: crackers, nuts, chocolates, jams and chutneys, pickles, fresh baked bread from Clear Flour Bakery.

Customers can also expect daily specials: of course, grilled cheese sandwiches, Ploughman’s Lunch and a rotating cheese plate. On evenings and weekends the store will offer tastings, classes and events.

Mason and her team will curate cheese plates for home entertaining as well as gifts. Led by cheesemonger-in-chief Kyra James and senior cheesemonger Julianne Webster, the staff provides expert — and says Mason "non intimidating" — recommendations.

Mason's background in publishing, branding and storytelling brings a modern sensibility to this shop along with a bit of old-school reverence for the history and heritage of cheesemaking. The space is dotted with pops of bright yellow and designed to be comfy, and visitors will find videos taken at cheese farms and dairies, a reference library of cookbooks and a Lost & Found line of personally curated vintage accessories, all to encourage learning with a bit of fun.

Infusing her innovative approach to an interactive experience, Curds & Co. will offer an educational and a multi-sensory experience for customers. A mobile app, Curdlist, will allow shoppers to track their likes, dislikes and purchases – whether at Curds & Co. or when shopping in other locations, according to the shop.

Curds & Co. is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., as well as one Sunday per month. To be kept in the loop, visit: www.curdsandco.com or follow on social media @curdsandco.
