David Lerner of Brookline, MA Makes the Dean's List at Quinnipiac University

David Lerner of Brookline, MA was named to the dean's list for the Spring 2012 semester at Quinnipiac University.

To qualify for the dean's list, a student must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grade lower than C. Full-time students must complete at least 14 credits, including 12 that have been graded A through C in a semester. Part-time students must complete at least six credits during a semester to be eligible.

Local Students Named to Dean's List at the University of Vermont

The following area students have been named to the dean's list for the spring 2012 semester at the University of Vermont:

  • Carmen M. Craig of Brookline, MA, a junior majoring in Spanish in the College of Arts & Sciences.
  • Eli A. Yannekis of Brookline, MA, a sophomore majoring in Sociology in the College of Arts & Sciences.
  • Sophia P. Isaak of Chestnut Hill, MA, a senior majoring in English in the College of Arts & Sciences.
  • Louisa P. Smith of Chestnut Hill, MA, a senior majoring in Public Communication in the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences.

To be named to the dean's lists, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.

Sarah G. Nalven of Chestnut Hill Named to Colby College Dean's List

Sarah G. Nalven, a member of the Class of 2013 at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, was named to the dean's list for her outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2011-12 year. Nalven is the daughter of David Nalven and Jill Goldman of Chestnut Hill, Mass., and attended Brookline High School.

Students whose grade point averages were 3.68 or higher were named to the Dean's List.

Abigail Winiker Graduates from Wake Forest University

Abigail Winiker from Chestnut Hill, MA received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wake Forest University during commencement exercises May 21, 2012. Charlie Ergen, the chairman of satellite broadcaster DISH Network Corporation and EchoStar Communications Corporation gave the commencement address to over 1,700 graduates.

A renowned businessman, leader and entrepreneur, Ergen encouraged graduates to pause and reflect upon lessons they learned as children and embody those ideas as they enter the world as alumni.

Hikari Mamata of Brookline to Attend Clarkson University

Hikari Mamata of Brookline, Mass., a graduate of Brookline High School, will attend Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y., as a member of the Class of 2016. Mamata, who will be majoring in biology, will begin studying at Clarkson in the fall.

"We look forward to having Hikari join us on campus in August," said Dean of Admissions Brian T. Grant.
