Student Success: Brookline Students Named to Dean's Lists – July 15

Jennifer DelVecchio, a resident of Brookline, MA and a member of the class of 2014, has been named to the Dean's List at Providence College for the Spring 2012 semester. To qualify for the Dean's List, students must achieve at least a 3.55 grade point average with a minimum of 12 credits.

Providence College is the only college or university in the United States administered by the Dominican Friars. The Catholic, liberal arts college has an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 3,900 students and offers degrees in 49 academic majors. Since 1997, Providence College has consistently been ranked as one of the top five regional universities in the north in U.S. News' America's Best Colleges.

Melanie Huttner, daughter of Marla Polger and Kenneth Huttner of Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts (02467), earned an undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis on May 18. Huttner graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor of arts from the College of Arts and Sciences.

Huttner was among the 2,800 students who received degrees at the university's 151st Commencement ceremony, which was held in Brookings Quadrangle on the Danforth Campus. Mike Peters, the 1981 Pulitzer Prize winner for editorial cartooning and creator of the award-winning cartoon strip Mother Goose & Grimm, delivered the Commencement address. Peters received an honorary doctor of humane letters.

Huttner, a recipient of the Sowden Prize for Outstanding Senior in Chemistry, is a member of Sigma Xi, the scientific research society.

Huttner is a 2008 graduate of Brookline High School in Brookline, Massachusetts.

Emily Mejail, a resident of Chestnut Hill, MA, was named to the Spring Semester 2012 Dean's List at Merrimack College. To be named to the Dean's List, a student must achieve a 3.25 grade point average or higher, based on a 4.0 grading system.

Emily is a Sophomore majoring in Business Administration .
