Brookline Firefighters Battle Blaze at Market
The fire broke out at the Butcherie on Harvard Street Tuesday afternoon.

Brookline, MA – Firefighters battled a two-alarm fire at the Butcherie on Harvard Street Tuesday afternoon.
No injuries were reported, but significant damage was done to the perishable goods in the store. Michael Sullivan, acting chief of operations for the Brookline Fire Department, gave the Boston Globe a preliminary estimate of $400,000 to $500,000 in damage.
Much of the damage was caused by smoke, Sullivan told the Globe.

The fire was first reported shortly after 3 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Globe. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
Harvard Street was originally closed from Fuller Street to Lawton Street but has since reopened.
