Vegetarian Pizza To Come To Brookline Village

Veggie Crust of Somerville fame is opening a new location where Grano Neapolitan Pizza used to be.

BROOKLINE, MA — A new pizzeria is coming to town. Veggie Crust, a vegetarian- and vegan-friendly pizza spot is opening a new location in the place where Grano Neapolitan Pizza used to live at 8 Cypress Street right next to Virginia's Fine Foods and just across the street from the CVS. The plan is to renovate the restaurant and put in 17 seats and a public handicapped bathroom.

"Newton JP and Brookline customers were heading to me in Somerville," the manager told the board of selectmen who said they were impressed with the menu, which includes gluten free options, and pizzas like a coconut corn made with alfredo, corn, tomatoes, regular and smoked mozzarella, along with basil and the more adventurous paneer Manchurian which, yes, has paneer, Manchurian sauce, cilantro, red onion, garlic and ginger.

In addition to pizza restaurant will serve pasta, panini, salads, juices, and vegan ice cream made with a coconut milk. The Board of Selectmen approved their licences on Tuesday July 25. Veggie Crust originally planned to open in June. Next step, fire department approval and then construction at the site. Look for an update on the opening, which representatives say should be happening before the end of the summer.
