• College of Science welcomes new faculty (northeastern.edu) — Northeastern University is adding new science faculty across its system, including physicist Richard Liu at the Burlington campus, who will work with the Quantum Materials and Sensing Institute. His research uses machine learning to speed up advanced microscopy and tackle questions traditional methods struggle with. Burlington students interested in physics and materials science may soon see new courses and research opportunities.
• Oculus Pathology Notifies 20,000 Patients About April 2026 Security Incident (hipaajournal.com) — A data breach at Burlington-based LeMaitre Vascular exposed personal and medical information, including Social Security and medical record numbers, for nearly 1,000 Massachusetts residents and an unknown total nationwide. The company reported that an unauthorized party accessed its network and may have obtained sensitive files, with the review completed September 14. Patients are urged to stay alert for identity theft and fraud.
