BURLINGTON, MA — A Burlington restaurant sustained damage following a kitchen fire Tuesday afternoon, according to fire officials.
Firefighters responded to a call from the restaurant's alarm monitoring company at about 4:20 p.m., followed by a 911 call reporting a fire at the Cambridge Street establishment.
Crews arrived at the restaurant and found a stove fire with a fire suppression system from the stove's hood activated. The fire had extended out from the hood area, which activated two nearby sprinkler systems.
No injuries were reported. The restaurant sustained some smoke and water damage and will be closed for cleaning while systems get replaced and fixed.
"I want to acknowledge the quick response of our crews, who were able to assist and keep this to a working fire," Chief Thomas Browne said in a statement. "Working and up-to-date sprinkler systems, including regular hood cleaning done by trained professionals, are vital in situations involving stoves and kitchen fires, as they work to contain the fire prior to our arrival. "
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Fire officials did not name the restaurant where the fire occurred.
