1. 2 People Critically Injured In Cambridge Car Crash (patch.com) — Early Monday morning, two drivers were critically injured in a violent two-car crash at Alewife Brook Parkway and Matignon Road in Cambridge, drawing a major response from state troopers and Cambridge firefighters. One sedan struck a tree and lost its roof, while the other sustained heavy front-end damage, and both drivers were rushed to the hospital. State Police collision and crime scene units are now investigating the cause of the crash.
2. Cambridge cafe owner says Central Square construction project is hurting business: "I'm really bankrupt" (cbsnews.com) — A long-delayed reconstruction project in Central Square is choking off foot traffic for Cambridge businesses, including Chateau Blanc Ice Cream and Cafe on River Street, where the owner says he’s nearly bankrupt. With dust, noise, and blocked walkways, he’s cut hours, lost staff, and fears missing out on future World Cup crowds while the city now targets completion by year’s end.

Over five years, contractor KBR will help Volpe apply artificial intelligence to modernize aviation, traffic management, and predictive maintenance across U.S. transportation networks.
4. Ducks Ltd. & Martin Courtney Cover Grant McLennan: Listen (stereogum.com) — Cambridge music fans can catch Ducks Ltd. with Yumi Zouma at The Sinclair on May 4, part of a North American tour just announced. Fed chair may reveal next steps after central bank meeting Wednesday (sfchronicle.com) — Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell was recently in Cambridge speaking at Harvard, but his next move in Washington could indirectly affect local wallets. As the Fed meets Wednesday, Powell may signal whether he’ll stay on the board after his chair term ends, while the Senate advances Kevin Warsh’s nomination amid lingering questions over inflation, interest rates, and Fed independence.
