Somerville Man Arrested On Drug And Gun Charges After Altercation With Police (patch.com) — Cambridge police arrested a 39-year-old Somerville resident near Rindge Avenue and Alewife Brook Parkway on multiple gun, drug, and assault charges after a struggle in which officers say a loaded magazine fell from his person. Officers later reported finding a pistol, suspected heroin and fentanyl, and fake IDs, and the man was arraigned in Cambridge District Court.

Indian-Origin MIT Faculty Honored with Major Engineering and Science Awards (indianewengland.com) — Indian-origin MIT faculty in Cambridge have just received major national and international honors in engineering, medical science, cryptography, and biophysics, underscoring the city’s global research influence. From Tel Aviv University’s biophysics prize to National Academy of Engineering election and cryptology fellowships, these recognitions spotlight groundbreaking work happening right in Cambridge’s academic community.    

3. Donna Gordon: 2025 Denis Roussel Award Winner (lenscratch.com) — Cambridge-based artist and writer Donna Gordon has been honored with the 2025 Denis Roussel Award for her photogravure portraits and continues to build a national reputation from her local base. In this in-depth interview, she discusses her Cambridge-rooted practice, alternative photographic processes, and ongoing “In the Garden” series, while highlighting how local studios and regional institutions support her evolving work.    

4. Hampden sheriff last local holdout for controversial anti-terrorism partnership (theshoestring.org) — Cambridge police are listed among the larger departments still participating in the FBI-led Boston Joint Terrorism Task Force, even as many western Massachusetts agencies have withdrawn.
