Cambridge Man Arrested On Illegal Drug And Weapon Charges (patch.com) — Cambridge police say a local resident was arrested in Porter Square after officers recognized the bicycle he was riding as stolen, leading to the discovery of a loaded handgun and multiple suspected illegal drugs. The case, one of three recent firearm arrests in North Cambridge, is being prosecuted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, with arraignment held in Cambridge District Court.
3. Updated Combined Sewer Overflow Control Plan Public Meeting June 2 (thesomervillenewsweekly.blog) — Cambridge and Somerville residents are being asked to weigh in on a $1.29 billion sewer overflow control plan that will affect local water and sewer rates and river health for decades. Sister of Cambridge shooting victim says shooter's gun jammed during attack, likely saving his life - Boston News, Weather, Sports (whdh.com) — A Cambridge man is still hospitalized after being shot multiple times during last week’s attack on Memorial Drive, but doctors expect he’ll walk again after a long recovery. His sister says the shooter’s gun appeared to jam, likely saving his life, and she joined other residents and city leaders at a community meeting to process the violence and search for answers.
5. Five Recipients Selected for DOE's Lighting Funding Awards (uslightingtrends.com) — A research team at MIT in Cambridge has been selected for a federal energy-efficiency award to improve the stability and efficiency of white OLED lighting. The project is part of a $16 million U.S. Department of Energy initiative backing five advanced lighting efforts nationwide, spotlighting Cambridge as a hub for cutting-edge energy research.
