CAMBRIDGE, MA — The James Beard Foundation's Taste America culinary series will return to Boston as part of its 2026-27 national tour, with Cambridge chef Erin Miller representing New England at the event.
Miller, the chef and owner of Urban Hearth in Cambridge's Inman Square, was previously named to the foundation's 2026-27 TasteTwenty class, an annual group of 20 chefs selected from around the country.
The Taste America series will kick off Sept. 16 in New Orleans, where all 20 TasteTwenty chefs will gather for a walk-around tasting showcasing their individual cooking styles.
From there, the series will travel to cities around the country through spring 2027, including Boston.
A date and venue for the Boston event have not yet been announced. Tickets are expected to go on sale in November, according to organizers.
"It is an incredible honor to represent Boston and New England as part of this year's TasteTwenty class," Miller said in a statement. "Our region has such a distinctive food culture, shaped by its seasons and the farmers, fishermen, foragers and independent restaurants that define it."
Now in its 14th year, Taste America highlights independent restaurants and chefs across the country. Events range from chef-led dinners to larger tasting events, with each participating city represented by a TasteTwenty chef.
Miller opened Urban Hearth at 1281 Cambridge St. in 2016. The Michelin-recommended restaurant focuses on seasonal New England ingredients sourced through relationships with regional farmers, fishermen, and foragers.
Miller has received several national culinary honors in recent years. She is a James Beard Award nominee and twice won the Great American Seafood Cook-Off, becoming the first woman and first Massachusetts chef to win the competition in 2022 before winning again in 2024.
In 2026, Miller was also selected as the Northeast culinary representative for Taste of America, part of the National Archives Foundation's celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
Proceeds from Taste of America events support the James Beard Foundation's programs focused on the independent restaurant industry and food system.
