Suspect In Custody After Shelter In Place At Harvard University

CAMBRIDGE, MA — One person is in custody after a manhunt in the Harvard area Tuesday morning, according to University police.

Authorities asked the Harvard University community to shelter in place Tuesday morning as they search for a reportedly dangerous person at large.

University police, Cambridge police, and State Troopers began their search in the area of 124 Mount Auburn St. for a person armed with a knife or machete who was involved in an aggravated assault and battery. The search area then expanded to Ash Street and Hawthorne Street.

The suspect was apprehended at approximately 10:25 a.m.
