CHELMSFORD, Mass. September 1, 2026 — Families, neighbors, and anyone searching for a welcoming church community are invited to Discover Waypoint Community Church, a free Community Open House on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at 301 Boston Road in Chelmsford.
The event offers a relaxed opportunity to meet friendly people, explore the church campus, enjoy free food and family activities, and learn about ministry opportunities for children, students, adults and families. Whether you are new to the area, have never attended church before, haven't been in years, or are simply looking for a place to belong, everyone is welcome.
Two experiences anchor the day: free fall-themed family portraits and the Waypoint Adventure & Raffle.
Free Fall Family Portraits, On the Spot
Every family who attends can sit for a complimentary 8x10 portrait against a fall-themed backdrop — and leave the same day with both the print and a keepsake picture frame at no cost. The portrait session is designed to give visiting families something to take home from their first visit, with no purchase or sign-up required.
Waypoint Adventure & Raffle
Guests can also take part in the Waypoint Passport adventure, a self-guided activity that sends participants around campus to collect a stamp at each ministry stop. Completed passports are entered into a raffle for prizes, giving families a playful way to explore the church's programs and meet the people behind them.

Waypoint Community Church — known most recently as Immanuel Church and, before that, Immanuel Baptist Church — exists to help people discover faith, build meaningful relationships and experience hope through Jesus Christ. The congregation traces its roots to 1896, when a combined Bible study of members from First Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church in Lowell found the vision and energy to incorporate Immanuel Baptist Church and serve the city's mill-working families. As the community grew toward the suburbs, the church relocated to Chelmsford in 1970 and built its current campus at 301 Boston Road in 1983. The Open House marks the next chapter in that 130-year story: a new name reflecting the same congregation's renewed commitment to serving Chelmsford and surrounding communities with warmth, authenticity and practical biblical teaching.

About Waypoint Community Church
For more than 130 years, the congregation now known as Waypoint Community Church has served Greater Lowell under a few different names, growing alongside the community it calls home. A combined Bible study of members from First Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church found the vision and energy in 1896 to incorporate Immanuel Baptist Church, serving Lowell's mill-working families. As the community expanded to the suburbs, the church relocated to Chelmsford in 1970 and built its current campus at 301 Boston Road in 1983, going on to serve surrounding towns including Lowell and Billerica.
