Annual Town Election Voter Registration and Absentee Ballot Information
The Annual Town Election is Tuesday, April 7.

Chelmsford Town Clerk Onorina Maloney wishes to remind Chelmsford voters that the Annual Town Election will be held on Tuesday, April 7. The Annual Town Election is a non-partisan election; therefore all registered voters regardless of their party affiliation or designation, are eligible to vote. The Town Clerk, in conjunction with the Board of Registrars, will conduct a special voter registration session on Wednesday, March 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Clerk’s Office at the Town Offices Building located at 50 Billerica Road.
“Chelmsford residents who are US Citizens, are at least 18, or who will turn 18 on or before Election Day, are eligible to register to vote” Maloney says. “Any voters who have moved within Chelmsford must complete registration forms changing their addresses in Chelmsford to ensure they appear at the correct precinct on Election Day,” Maloney added.
Absentee Ballot Information and Deadline
The deadline to request an absentee ballot will be Monday, April 6 at noon.

“Voters are eligible to vote by absentee ballot if they are unable to come to the polls in person on Election Day due to an absence from the Town of Chelmsford during polling hours; have a physical disability that prevents them from going to the polling place, or for religious belief” Maloney says.
Absentee ballots for the April 7 Annual Town Election will be available by Thursday, March 19. Voters who are eligible to vote absentee may do so at the Clerk’s Office as of that date, or may submit an application to have a ballot mailed (applications for absentee ballots must be in writing). Election Day Voting Hours and Precinct Information
On Election Day, the polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Voters from Precincts 2 and 3 vote at the Chelmsford Senior Center located at 75 Groton Road.
- Voters living in Precincts 1, 4, 5, 6 and 9 will vote at the McCarthy Middle School Large Gym located at 250 North Road.
- Voters from Precincts 7 and 8 vote at the McCarthy Middle School Little Gym located at 250 North Road.
Voters are encouraged to confirm their polling location and their voter status (active or inactive) by calling the Town Clerk’s Office or by visiting http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ under the Information for Voters Box, click on my Voter Registration Status.
“If a voter’s census year is not up to date, that voter will appear on the ‘Inactive List’ and will need to complete paperwork and show identification before voting. Voters are strongly encouraged to either contact the Clerk’s Office, or visit the Secretary of State website to determine their status.” Maloney says.
Sample ballots will be available on the Town of Chelmsford website on March 19 at http://www.townofchelmsford.us/.
Candidates and supporters are reminded that , according to MGL Ch. 54 §65, signs are allowed at the polling place as long as they are outside the 150-foot radius around the entrance of the polling place. In addition, signs must not obstruct vehicle or pedestrian traffic. Posters, cards, handbills, placards, pictures or circulars intended to influence the action of the voter are also not permitted within the 150-foot radius.
