A.P. ART STUDENT SUCCESSES AT CHELMSFORD HIGH SCHOOL
As the school year comes to a close, the A.P. Art Students can finally breathe a sigh of relief and reflect on their accomplishments after completing 24 pieces of art this year.
As the school year comes to a close, the A.P. Art Students can finally breathe a sigh of relief and reflect on their accomplishments after completing 24 pieces of art this year. With this success behind them, three students continue to create on an exemplary scale.
Two graduating seniors, Shelley Carpenter and Cassandra Cairns, have contributed their hard work and talent toward creating permanent murals at Chelmsford High School. Shelley created a dynamic growling lion, the school’s mascot, outside the entrance to the art department in complementary oranges and blues with swirling brushstrokes.
Cassandra created a mural within an oval of a young person with piercing eyes peeking through lush foliage. It has the look and feel of Peter Pan’s “lost children.” Cassandra’s mural is outside of the CHS Learning Commons. Both of these young artists will be studying art in college next year; Shelley will be attending Salem State College and Cassandra will be studying at Maine College of Art.

Tanya Dimitrov, another A.P. Art Student and a current junior at CHS, has recently been informed that she was selected for Art All-State. Participation in the prestigious Art All-State program involves a weekend creating art with students from around the state at The Worcester Art Museum. Professional artists work with gifted, artistic juniors in creating collaborative environmental art pieces from non-traditional art materials. Art students work together in a “think tank” on how best to create this challenging environmental sculpture. Tanya will return to Chelmsford High in the fall, to continue to build her art portfolio of exemplary work in A.P. Art.
