Boys Tennis Knocked Out of MIAA Tournament
The Chelmsford High boys tennis team was swept by Westford Academy yesterday in the first round of the MIAA State Tournament.
The Lions suffered a tough loss against Westford Academy, at Chelmsford, in the first round of the MIAA Team State Tournament.
Despite tough efforts from all the varsity players, the Lions were just unable to pull off a win.
"Obviously we would have liked to have won, but despite their record not being stellar, these guys played tough,” said CHS Head Coach Andy Shupe.

“We knew coming in it was going to be a little of a long shot, but they played well.” he said.
Shupe said that Westford is a good team, and he was pleased with the effort put forth by all of the players.

In #1 singles, Sam Scrivani battled against Westford’s Brendan Holmer. Pete Lawlor fell to Kevin Chen in #2 singles, 6-2, 6-1. Ryan DeCoste was unable to pull off a win against Victor Braeseu in #3 singles. Braeseu pulled away with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
The #1 doubles pair of Max Maybury and Cam Engdahl fell against Westford standouts Jamison Bigham and Corey Yu, 6-1, 6-1. In #2 doubles, Anthony Omobono and Tyler Brown lost to Westford’s Chris Alto and John Lawson, 6-4, 6-3.
The Lions plan to rest up until next season.
