Bruins Legend Rick Middleton to Take On Youth Hockey Coaches in Alumni Game

Bruins legend Rick Middleton and other Bruins alumni will skate in an alumni game against Chelmsford Hockey Association coaches as fundraiser Sunday

Chelmsford Hockey Association coaches on Sunday will face the real deal as they play former Bruins star Rick Middleton, and other former Bruins, in an alumni game.

The game, which is Sunday at 3 p.m. at Chelmsford Forum, is a fundraiser for Chelmsford Hockey Association. Association President Scott Millin said it was years in the making.

"The CHA Board of Directors has discussed hosting an event like this for a number of years but the planning workload and commitment level are exceptional," he said. "CHA Fundraising Director Diane Angwin took the initiative in August and since then has worked hard with former Bruin Rick Middleton and a network of CHA parent volunteers to make this year’s Bruin Alumni/CHA Coaches game a reality."

Millin expects great fun and excitement at the game.

"The Bruins as an organization and the Forum as a venue are rich in hockey history and the CHA Board of Directors hopes there will be an air of excitement, nostalgia, and community in the building on Sunday," he said. "It will be great fun, for our competing CHA coaches and also for the fans who are coming to watch them."

As for the coaches - who typically play in the annual - are they ready to face some Bruins alumni?

Millin is confident.

"Does our “Has Been/Never Was” band of coaches stand a chance against former professional hockey players?  I encourage folks to come see for themselves on Sunday," Millin said. "The really important question is, are the CHA coaches up for the challenge? And the answer is, you bet."

The Bruins Alumni and CHA coaches square off this Sunday, December 4th, 3:00pm at the Chelmsford Forum. Millin said there's still plenty of time to catch the game before the

Tickets are $8 each (age 5 and under free) and will be for sale at the door.  Select Bruin players will also make themselves available for autographs.
