Bullet Slug Found Near Chelmsford School Not A Threat: Police
A custodian found what appeared to be a slug in the crack of a sidewalk.

CHELMSFORD, MA – A bullet slug found in the crack of a sidewalk near Byam Elementary School Wednesday was determined to be non-threatening, Chelmsford police said. A custodian found what appeared to be a .308-caliber slug for a hunting rifle near the main entrance to the school.
A student at the school told administrators that he owned a keychain with a bullet attached, but the top part was missing. Officers matched the slug found on the sidewalk to the keychain. The keychain consisted of a real bullet slug and a brass casing, but it had no gunpowder or means of firing, according to police.
Police said there is no danger to Chelmsford's schools or the larger community, and there have been no threats of any kind.
