CGC Celebrates Arbor Day
This article describes the celebration of Arbor Day by Chelmsford Garden Club.
Chelmsford Garden Club celebrated Arbor Day by planting a tree in the beautiful Chelmsford Public Garden. They planted a Cleveland Pear Tree which has white blossoms with green leaves that turn red in the fall. The tree quickly grows 30’ to 40’ tall and is described as “one of those miracles of nature”. Present were garden club members, Boy Scout troop 74, local citizens and town officials including Gary Persetti, DPW and Selectman Pat Wojtas. A meaningful ceremony was conducted by Ms. Catherine Crawford, Garden Club Arbor Day Chairman. A poem was read by Past President Carolyn Langevin and an Official Proclamation of Arbor Day was read by Town Selectman, Pat Wojtas. Troop 74 Boy Scouts conducted a beautiful flag ceremony. Arbor Day is one of the Club’s favorite holidays because it is an opportunity to beautify and improve the environment. Chelmsford Garden Club is a member of the Garden Club Federation of MA and the National Garden Club, Inc.
