Chelmsford Bank Robbery Suspect Held on $100K Bail

Man was recently released from jail after 2012 robbery in Burlington, also faces charges with a high speed chase prior to his capture.

A Littleton man, who allegedly robbed a Chelmsford Bank last week and led area police on a multi-town chase, is being held on $100,000 bail after appearing before a judge Monday.

The man, Jason Jewett, 38, pleaded not guilty in court Monday to the charges of robbing the Citizens Bank inside the Stop & Shop on Chelmsford Street last week, the Lowell Sun is reporting. Jewett also entered a not guilty plea to possession of heroin, as well as the charges he faces with a high speed chase last week that ended when he crashed his vehicle in Bedford on the Billerica town line.

Jewett recently served time for a 2012 bank robbery in Burlington, the Sun is reporting and was on probation at the time of the Chelmsford bank robbery.

He was caught quickly after robbing the Citizens Bank at 248 Middlesex Turnpike in Burlington in November 2012 when responding officers got valuable information from an eyewitness describing Jewett’s getaway vehicle and direction of travel.

Jewett is expected back in court on April 28 for a probable-cause hearing.
