Chelmsford DCF Office Evacuated For Gas Odor: Report

An employee reported a gas smell in the building Thursday morning.

CHELMSFORD, MA – The Department of Children and Families office in Chelmsford was evacuated Thursday due to a report of a gas odor, according to the Boston Globe.

Chelmsford Fire Chief Gary Ryan told the Globe the building at 2 Omni Way was evacuated shortly before 11 a.m. after an employee reported the smell. Firefighters detected a "slight odor" of gas, but their detection equipment did not go off, the Globe reported.

Employees were allowed to go back in to get their belongings around noon but will not be able to permanently re-enter until the source of the odor is determined.
