Chelmsford Firefighter Seriously Injured In Fall At Stow Academy
The Chelmsford firefighter works part-time at the academy, according to the department.
STOW, MA — A Chelmsford firefighter was seriously injured in a fall from an academy burn building, the department said.
The firefighter, who works part-time at the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy, fell and was injured Tuesday at the Stow campus, the Chelmsford Fire Department said in a social media post.

"He is currently being treated at UMass Memorial Medical Center, where Chelmsford Fire personnel are present to support him and his loved ones, the post said.

"At the specific request of his family, his name is not being released at this time," according to the post. "All of us at Chelmsford FD are holding him in our prayers."
The firefighter fell shortly after 9 a.m. while preparing for recruit training, Department of Fire Services Public Information Officer Jake Wark said in an email.

"Academy personnel, many of whom are EMTs and paramedics, immediately began providing medical aid and called 9-1-1," Wark said. "The Stow and Sudbury fire departments responded moments later and transported the staff member to an area hospital, where he is in stable condition with serious injuries."

Chelmsford Fire Chief Gary Ryan issued a note of gratitude to those who assisted the injured firefighter.
"On behalf of the Chelmsford Fire community, we also wish to extend our thanks to the Academy staff and Fire/EMS personnel from Stow, Sudbury, and Life Flight who provided immediate, professional medical care at the scene and in transport,” the note said.
