Chelmsford Goalies Compete at Elite Hockey Tournament

Dan Curran and Ryan Farmer tend the goal at Hockey Night in Boston.

There are over 400 of the top high school, prep school, and juniors players at this week’s Hockey Night in Boston Major Showcase from across America and Canada, and two of Chelmsford’s own are playing on the same team.

Lowell Catholic’s Dan Curran and Brooks School’s Ryan Farmer are suiting up and will play goal for the Middlesex/Merrimack squad at this year’s tournament which is being played at the Haverhill Valley Forum in Haverhill.

Numerous great goaltenders played in the HNIB Major Showcase including two-time Stanley Cup champion Tom Barasso and current Los Angeles Kings goalie Jon Quick.

“A lot of great names have come out of this tournament, and it’s an honor to have come this far,” Curran said. “I’m just going to play my best and see where that takes me.”

Curran and Farmer are playing in the Massachusetts division against some of the top talent in the state, including several Divison-1 commits, and representing Chelmsford means a lot to them.

“There aren’t many Chelmsford kids here,” Curran said. “So it’s pretty cool.”

Even with the dozens of college and juniors scouts evaluating talent, it’s all about one thing for Farmer.

“It’s fun to play,” Farmer said.
