Chelmsford Halloween 2021: Trick-Or-Treating Schedule

The Board of Selectmen has announced trick-or-treating hours for Halloween 2021, which takes place on a Sunday.

CHELMSFORD, MA — The Chelmsford Board of Selectmen has announced the town's trick-or-treating hours for Halloween 2021.

Trick -or-treating will be held rain or shine on Sunday, October 31 from 6 to 8 p.m., said officials.

Although some residents proposed to move the date to Saturday, October 31 to avoid interference with school, sports, and homework, Chief of Police James Spinney wrote a letter to the board advising against it for multiple reasons.

"While changing the date of Halloween to a Saturday would help with some traffic concerns as they pertain to commuter vehicular traffic, it also puts other negative factors into play," said Spinney. "Statistics show that more impaired drivers are on the road during weekend nights."

"I have also contacted other greater Lowell Police Chiefs and no other nearby community is making this date change for Halloween," he continued.
