Chelmsford High Girls Soccer Moves On in Tournament

The girls beat Lincoln-Sudbury and move on to Newton North.

The Chelmsford Lady Lions soccer team advanced in the Mass state tournament with a hard fought 1-0 win against the No. 2 seed Lincoln-Sudbury team. The Lions (seeded No. 15) will next travel to Newton to play the No. 7 seed Newton North team tomorrow at 2 p.m.

The game was tied after regulation and two overtime periods and it all came down to penalty kicks. Senior Megan Hanna, sophomore Rachel Hanna and freshman Kayla Loycano all buried their kicks to gain the victory.

It was a complete team effort to seal the victory but playing well were mid-fielder Michelle Chernaik , striker Megan Hanna and Kayla Loycano man marked Lincoln's outstanding striker holding her to no shots on net.

Brianna Raymond again was outstanding in goal as she made numerous saves during regulation and held Lincoln to only one made penalty kick.
