Chelmsford High School Is Honored with 17 TAMY Nominations

Chelmsford High School’s Fine and Performing Arts Department recent production of Hairspray has been honored with 17 TAMY nominations.

On May 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, the Chelmsford community was treated to the fun, romping musical Hairspray by members of Chelmsford High School.  The production was entered into the annual TAMY competition sponsored by the Theater at the Mount.  The TAMYS recognize the outstanding achievements of high school musicals.  Under the leadership of Mr. Carl Rondina (producer and musical director), Mrs. Lauren Cochran (director), and Mr. Craig Robertson (technical director), Hairspray featured over 85 cast and crew members.

Chelmsford earned a whopping 17 TAMY nominations, tied with Billerica for the most in the state.  Students and teams were recognized in the following categories:  Best Overall Production – Chelmsford High School, Best Actress – Julia Segal (Tracy Turnblad), Best Supporting Actor – Tim Chase (Edna Turnblad), Best Supporting Actress – Hannah Riffe (Velma) and Amanda Lococo (Penny), Best Featured Performer - Cyrinah Morris (Motormouth Maybelle), Best Costumes (Jen Arnol and Emma Lovas), Best Lighting Design (Evan Smith), Best Props and Set Dressing (Becky Driscoll and company), Best Set Design (Abby Hirsch and company) Best Production Number (You Can’t Stop the Beat), Best Student Orchestra,  Best Choreographer (Kate Burgess), Not Your Average Corus Member (Michael Giamassi Wang), Best Stage Crew (Molly O’Keefe and Company), Best Musical Direction (Carl Rondina), Best Director (Lauren Cochran)
