Chelmsford High School Target Of Hacker Threat: Police
Chelmsford police said a threat was directed at Chelmsford High School over Facebook Monday and hackers may have been involved.
CHELMSFORD, MA — A threat was directed at Chelmsford High School over Facebook Friday and hackers may have been involved, according to police. An investigation determined the threat was not credible, according to Chelmsford Police Chief James Spinney. A similar threat was made in Waltham Thursday and police believe the incidents are related.
The threat appeared on a woman's Facebook profile.
"(The threat) stated that she would harm people at Chelmsford High School on Friday morning," Spinney said in a statement. "Police have interviewed the woman who owns the account, and the Chelmsford Police Department does not believe that there is a serious threat to the community. The incident mirrors a threat made in Waltham yesterday, and the language used in both threats is similar. The Facebook accounts in the Waltham and Chelmsford incidents appear to have been compromised by hackers."
