Chelmsford Man Cost Lowe's $1,000+ By Switching Bar Codes: Police

Police arrested the 43-year-old after he allegedly swapped the bar codes on items to get cheaper prices.

CHELMSFORD, MA – A North Chelmsford man accused of swapping the bar codes on items at a Lowe's in Nashua, NH was arrested Monday. Michael Rogers, 43, replaced the bar codes on items with bar codes from cheaper goods before completing the sale at self-checkout, police said.

He did this over a couple of weeks, costing Lowe's $1,082.91, according to police.

Rogers was charged with fraudulent retail transactions, a Class B Felony, which is punishable by up to seven years in prison. He was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Hillsborough County Superior Court in New Hampshire Oct. 25.
