Police said the incident happened early Sunday near Winter Street. (Sign up for free daily newsletters and breaking news alerts from <a href="https://patch.com/massachusetts/chelmsford/subscribe">Chelmsford Patch</a>.)"Patrol Units responded to the area of Brook Street and Winter Street at approximately 1:39am for a report of a subject going through (unlocked) vehicles," police said in a statement. "Three officers were on scene within minutes and observed a subject sitting inside a vehicle then flee on foot. A brief foot pursuit into a swamp followed.
