Chelmsford Police Fatally Shoot Fox That Bit 2 People Tuesday

Police determined the fox posed an immediate threat after two reports of attacks.

CHELMSFORD, MA — Police shot and killed a fox that attacked two people Tuesday in Chelmsford, Chief James Spinney said.

Officers responded around 10 a.m. to a report that a nurse from a doctor's office on Meeting House Road was bitten outside the door to her office. Police couldn't locate the fox.

Officers then responded around 4 p.m. to Crosby Lane after a delivery person reported being attacked. Police found the fox and determined it posed an immediate threat. An officer shot and killed it.

The fox will be tested at a state lab for rabies. Both bite victims have been treated.
