Chelmsford Police Help Nab Suspected Heroin Dealer

Two Lowell men face heroin and cocaine charges.

LOWELL, MA – Two Lowell men were arrested last week and face a myriad of drug charges. Chelmsford detectives in conjunction with the Lowell Special Investigations Section seized over 6 grams of heroin, 3 grams of cocaine, 10 ounces of marijuana, $1050 in cash and materials associated with drug dealing from a Chambers Street apartment in Lowell April 12.

Joshua Ruiz, 25, who lives at the Chambers Street residence, was arrested and charged with possession of heroin, cocaine and marijuana with intent to distribute, according to a press release.

The following day, Lowell police searched a School Street apartment and found 125 grams of heroin, 29 grams of cocaine, $4,882 and packaging materials. The resident, 41-year-old Oscar Soto Romero, was charged with trafficking heroin over 100 grams, trafficking cocaine over 18 grams, trafficking heroin and cocaine in a school zone and a warrant for drug charges from Lawrence District Court, Lowell police said.

Ruiz was arraigned April 13. Romero appeared in court Monday.
