Chelmsford Police Name New Lieutenant
Chelmsford police Chief James Spinney announced Jason Hanscom is the department's newest lieutenant.

CHELMSFORD, MA — Chelmsford police on Wednesday announced Jason Hanscom was promoted to lieutenant. Police Chief James Spinney announced the Hanscom's promotion from sergeant.
"I wish Lt. Hanscom all the best as he joins the Chelmsford Police Department's command staff and begins a new chapter in his career," Spinney said in a statement.
"Lt. Hanscom's new role will be that of Shift Commander for the midnight-8 a.m. shift. He will oversee all operations issues, as well as, care and control of all persons in custody at the police department."

Hanscom is the department's accreditation manager and will supervise the auxiliary unit. He was first hired as a police officer in Chelmsford in 2002.
